What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

MenoSundays; Life Lived Lovingly

I wish I could remember where I spotted this image... apologies for not being able to credit it - but it is one of the best depictions of the benefits of meditation that I have ever seen!

The ability to see clearly, without emotion but still with compassion, the freedom from fretfulness and confusion... this and so much more.

But if nothing else, at least a tidying up of all the mental mess! There are just so many distractions. All the colours of the world are not wrong, but they can surely keep a person from focused application.

This image also makes it clear what is involved in attaining that clarity. A steep, long climb! There will be stumbles and falls and the occasional avalanche doing their best to prevent that climb. Don't lose heart, keep on keeping on. That monkey mind CAN be tamed.

  2. Lately Ive been encouraged to believe that life is the journey, not the destination. Which kind of links to your Saturday thought - we all get to the end, not all of us have made the most of the journey. So the slips and falls on that long steep slope are part of the process, part of life. If it was easy it wouldn't be worth striving for. ๐Ÿ™ xxx Mr T

  4. Yes, that illustration conveys a lot. It's so important to have a clear and uncluttered mind. That helps us understand people and situations around us better, and take important decisions with equanimity.

  6. I am aiming for the person at the top but am more like the person climbing, even after 2 years of meditation. I will continue to practice.

  7. Wow, is this ever true. I do have trouble with the calming of the mind, and it often keeps me awake at night for a little or a long time.
