WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

MenoAZering; A = Arrival

For April, I'm participating in #BlogchatterA2Z, and you will find original images created by me and some ramblings to go with them. I will be capitalising words that begin with the featured letter (on first use only). Let me know what you think of the pics, words, or both in the comments! For more of this madness, you can visit Blogchatter.

Regular readers will recall that I hit upon an APPLICATION called ibisPaintX just a few short weeks ago. Its ARRIVAL on OctoKan, the Chromebook's screen, has provided me with much creative fun. So much so that I have a pile of images building and nowhere to put them.

ART is such a wonderful tool of expression and processing. Most of my stuff is (and has always been) geometric and ABSTRACT. Once in a while, I might break out into more figurative work. When I was reminded that APRIL was here again and that this is the month we are challenged to work the ALPHABET each day except Sundays, I realised what I could do with all these doodlings!

Most of them are originals, created while listening to an audiobook or some meditative music. Some are ADAPTATIONS from my photographic files. You will see one, and one only is a photo of an original hand-drawn item. Several had been produced before I was thinking alphabetically, but I opted to utilise them and ASSIGNED them titles with letters to be used as a kickstart to each of their relevant posts. That ACCOUNTS for sixteen of them. The remaining ten have been created with specific letters in mind. Turning that APPROACH AROUND did ALTER the creative process a little; I wonder if you will be ABLE to tell which were random and which were letter-specific?.. for that matter, will I be able to remember..?!

Thus this blog ADVANCES into the month of my birth with thirty days of celebration! I hope you will APPRECIATE them and, even if you don't, they give you something to think about for at least 87 seconds...

  2. Geometric and abstract, yes. And attractive. Do you do it on a computer or is it handmade? I must admire the patience required for such work.

  6. When I see works like this they always remind of of Spirograph- a ‘toy’ my children had in the 1960s.

Yours are so obviously much more intricate than anything they produced - big bold and beautiful! The one above would make a great stitchery worked in multi coloured threads.
    Take care

(Oh and I’ve been a member of Ravelry since 2009, use it for ‘inspiration’ but never load my projects (publicly or privately) I find it easier having it all to hand in a folder rather than go through the online hassle. I know- just me😊)

  8. Happy Birthday for sometime this month - and why 87 seconds exactly? I was trying to work out whether you had used repetitions of the chosen letter to create the design before I read the explanation. xxx Mr T and F

Ahhh... that is an old "Blogville" thing that came from mayor emeritus, Frankie and Ernie (dachshunds, no longer blogging). I think it originated from some sporting reference. Quite a few of us still use the number 87 to indicate 'a lot' but also as a kind of random 'whateva' sort of usage. It's sort of a lucky number... and what a good idea it would have been to create mandalas from the alphabet. Will have to keep that one in mind!!! Yxx
