WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

For April, I'm participating in #BlogchatterA2Z, and you will find original images created by me and some ramblings to go with them. I will capitalise words that begin with the featured letter (on first use only). Let me know what you think of the pics, words, or both in the comments! For more of this madness, you can visit Blogchatter.

Luke 24:6-7:
"Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:
'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners,
be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'"

This pencil drawing I did for my art O Level... for a long time my father had it mounted on the pinboard in his office in Nigeria. I had thought it was long gone. What a surprise to find it in the brown portfolio from the attic...
resurrected from the dark resting place!

  1. Quite an amazing drawing, and so different from the other pieces of your work I've seen (many of which are just as dramatic, although different). /Fay

  2. It's always interesting to see not only the actual pictures but the decisions about what one chose to represent at different stage in life. Or was it a set task to draw Christ on the crucifix? (Somehow I doubt it, based on my experience of Art 'O' level.)
    Cheers,
    Gail.

Hehe... kinda in between actually. We were to produce any 'life' drawing which was influenced by one of three artists we had been studying; Chagal, Picasso or Dali. I was taken with the latter's Christ of St John. My adaptation was to remove the cross and have a depiction of the Divine hand to whom Yeshua was surrendering... Which sat well with my own nascent spiritual inquiry at that time. Yxx

  3. Resurrection! Beautifully sketched, preserved and rediscovered. Also the fact that you created this when you were a teenager makes me smile as does your reply to WFT Nobby's inquiry.

  6. you are so gifted in drawing. wow.. Resurrected 2000 years ago and now from the attic folder. I have not had a captcha come up on any of the blogs and I don't think it is on mine, but then how would I know.

  7. You have many different styles dear Yam-Aunty.. Do you still do any pencil drawings? Furrings and Purrings Mr T (and no - we didn't experience captcha anywhere, pleased to note you have disposed of the problem now).

  11. Your fingers have magic in them! The pencil drawing is so evocative that it fills the mind space with all the colours of emotions.
Recently I came across an article which mentioned that the golden crown of thorns supposedly thought of being worn by Jesus had miraculously escaped the fate similar to the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris where it was housed, during the unfortunate fire. Today when I saw your drawing my attention was naturally drawn to it. Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown (though for the Kings and Queens) they say and if the crown itself is of thorns, how painful it must have been.

  12. How amazing to find it after so long. A beautiful drawing. I wasn't sure before I read your drawing if the hand was lifting Him up, or if it was humanity offering Him as a sacrifice.
