What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

MenOOOOPS; I Did It Again...

... arrived at posting time with nothing in the channel! It has been a slightly odd week. Was that the effect of a Strawberry moon? Or just that sometimes things get scrappy no matter what? In brief, there have been failed courier pickups of books for sale, then no-shows for the sale of the tumble dryer... but that is to be collected later today for a local animal charity shop to see if they can move it on. Here's hoping. There have been several nights of insomnia again, accompanied by an owl (maybe two) hooting away at high decibels. There have been the phone and texts about dad's dear old neighbour M, a lady the Mac Clan are extremely fond of and who is really struggling in her late 80s to keep things going. The latest news last evening is that she is in hospital for a few days to give her lodger/helper some respite and to have a good going over with tests and physio. One worries and feels helpless...

Yesterday, Coby came for lunch again. Good company and lots of this, that and the other chatter over green veg frittata with tomato, then watermelon and kiwi fruit and a couple of cups of tea. It is quite the novelty for me to have someone who can just drop by at a moment's notice!

For those of you out there who enjoy a good murder mystery and particularly of the British regional style, I can highly recommend the DCI Ryan series by L J Ross. They are set in Northumberland. I am on the fourth book at the moment - I am listening to the audiobook version from Bolinda, and as much of my enjoyment is coming from the excellent reading by actor Jonathan Keeble as from the stories themselves. He really brings the characters to life and adds tension at just the right time. I have found that for audiobooks, the reader can make or break the experience of the story.

So that is all I have to offer today - except to remind you all that next Friday is FFF time again!!! Crikey, did that seem to come around too fast???

  3. I enjoy others’ everyday experiences. Mine are so….well at the moment they are a bit repetitive so I don’t inflict the day to day on anyone else. I’ve just checked and my library has the Ryan book so I might order them. Good recommendations with no strings attached to the recommender are hard to find. Thank you

  7. From all this I am picking up that LIFE is happening and happening all at one time.. we all go through periods of that. Lately I have been having problems finding words for the channel. I am trying the every other day on each blog, one post per day not two. not going well, keep making the wrong one on the wrong post. I have had to copy paste from snapper to beau and beau to snapper and then do the wrong date. you did what i do, make a post out of LIFE

  9. Happy Friday YAM
The bird on my post is a juvenile Cooper's Hawk. He was a surprise. As I walked by he flew over my head. He landed on the potting shed that was just a few feet away.

  15. I hope things go better for you in the week ahead. I love a good audio book read by someone that uses unique voices for the different characters. Currently I'm listening to the James Herriot "All Creatures" series that was read by Christopher Timothy (who played the title character in the 1970's series) and enjoying it. They have re-released the series with the current actor, Nicholas Ralph, reading it, but my library only had the older version.
