MenoSundays; Life Lived Lovingly

It's that time again when we read about the progress of my current Guide Dog sponsor pup, Sprout. As I had begun to suspect reading between the lines of earlier reports, he has proved a little too exuberant to be relied upon for full Guide Dog duties... thus, as you will read and see, he is to be transitioned to Buddy Dog. This is a looser companion dog structure, playing an important healing and emotional support role.

  1. Our municipal court uses buddy dogs. The first one, maybe ten years ago, sat in court with abused children. They have a second dog, now, for the same purpose.

  2. We are really pleased to read that Sprout got matched with his true calling in life and will fulfil all his potential in that role. We know a lot of humans for whom we could have wished the same when they were younger. Furrings and purrings Mr T and F

  3. Hmmm. Overconfidence and a tendency to be distracted during training. Sounds a wee bit familiar...
Wishing Sprout success and happiness in his new career.
    Cheers! Gail.

  5. Sprout is so very beautiful and I am more than happy he has passed his Buddy dog test. Can't wait to hear that he has been matched to a family. Beau would have made a good buddy dog, he is my buddy dog. just like people, they need to be in a job that matches their personality. a friend a few years ago had a black lab that was like Sprout and way to friendly, he came to live with my friends family, because he could not be a guide dog. Now I am wondering if we have buddy dogs. we have therapy dogs . maybe it is just the name

Yes, terminology - thought therapy dogs are often for specific need - we do have categories for that too. Yxx
