MenoSundays; Life Lived Lovingly

Today, the completion of the mini-series of stained glass windows as a representation of Love manifest. Here we have the patron saint of Scotland alongside a queen who proved herself worthy of sainthood. One could debate all manner of things about such sanctification, but that is not the point here. Rather, gaze upon the beauty of this glasswork and consider the skill, the talent, which produced it. The wonder of humanity is that we produce such things. It is the pinnacle of creativity... but forget not the creatures other than us who appreciate beauty. Consider the fish that works tirelessly on building a mandala nest to invite females - or the bower bird who builds a canopy for romance - the magpie attracted to shiny things... Nature itself is Love Manifest.

  2. I like where you went with this, not about the subject matter but the stunning art that was created by gifted artists. I also like that you brought up the facts that nature builds art just like humans do.. there is nothing more fascinating that looking at a nest built by a mama cardinal. I watched the two cardinals fly in and out, in and out, building the nest in our powderpuff bush.. they never got to use it because I removed it because it was at Jakes eye level and I knew he would not let the babies live. I picked it up and was stunned at how creatively they built that nest from junky stuff. I will do a re post of the nest.

  3. This is lovely!
We've been watching a BBC show about the Prince's art sponsorship. The one was watched yesterday was on stained glass making. It was very interesting.

  5. THANK you X 87 for this beautiful post. WAY BACK when I started working at NCSU I was in the Chemistry
department. I once heard one of the students talking about going to the glass blowers studio to order come
glass wear for the labs. I had no idea we had a glass blower I went too and WHAT a treat. She told me she
made stain glass too at home.
