What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

First Friday Filmclub

If you popped by on Wednesday for musicalisms, you will have noted that I am theming them by country (or at least will attempt to) for each month. That got me pondering about the film series this year... and then it seemed kind of obvious. A little jaunt around the world in a number of short films, mostly in narrative story form, a few in documentary form and one dance short (long-termers here know how I adore watching dance!) The twelve items chosen were picked from twice as many viewings (and a few more). There are some truly talented young filmmakers out there. The Vimeo platform is perfect for them. Thus all, but the dance video, are from there.

As you will discover, this month, Wednesdays will be dedicated to my beloved other country, Australia, as Federation Day falls on Jan 1st (commemorating separation from British governance) and Australia Day on Jan 26th (commemorating the first landing). I do have an Aussie short film to share... but will use that next month as the one here today is also about Jan 1st, and something used to see their community through these dark winter months of January and February in Bulgaria... Here are the Kukeri!

  3. i can agree it is stranger than fiction! also weird and wonderful at same time. I have never seen anything like this, and I do wish this could get rid of the bad spirits in our world. It looks like good family fun.
