WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-Now-Views; Bit Of Peek, Bit Of Speak

Running low to zero on new photos - these are the only two since the turn of the year. May have to resort to archives for the next few weeks.

That was your bit of peek... now for the bit of speak.

I have been using Grammarly for seven years now. I am a decent user of the English language, but when typing as many words as I do in a year, it is easy to become a bit lax and have typos, transpositions, and such. The app gives weekly reports on how one is progressing with word count, style, etc. I am up to nearly five million words since I started using the app.

Frankly, I sometimes get very irritated with the thing because it doesn't adapt to my idiosyncratic usage - the style I like to apply to this blog. Therefore, I frequently override its suggestions for 'improved usage'. Who wants to be churning out the same stuff that everyone else will be if they are on Grammarly?

That aside, it has been well worth the £120 annual fee, and I recommend it if you are a prolific writer.

It occasionally makes me giggle. This little badge popped up as I was composing an email the other day. Long-term readers, do you agree or disagree? (I'm a grown-up, you can tell me!)

  3. Your pictures are very lovely, YAM. As for Grammarly, I have never even heard of it, let alone used it. I do not consider myself a “prolific writer” and whether my output has merit or not is for others to judge. I will carry along merrily doing what I do!

  4. yes, agree 100 percent, all hail The Catalyst! ha ha. I see the ads for Grammarly and know I need it, but not the cost. I spend my money on PicMonkey which I have been neglecting lately. I just depend on word to tell me when something is wrong...

  10. We love your views today. Our mom needs some help catching spelling errors. Sometimes her fingers work faster than her brain and strange words come out. BOL!

  11. Wow! Mom forgot all about Grammarly! She quite using it when she was writing in 4 versions of English (UK, Canadian, American and Australian) at her last job! It was ALWAYS telling her she was wrong! Love the mountains in the background...do they have snow on them or is it the light that makes them look that way? Keep being awesome! Marvelous Marv and Barb

  12. I avoided using Grammarly for the same reason that it doesn't appreciate my idiosyncratic ways with language. I stopped even MS Word help with grammar.
