Menonday Art Vibe; Festive Fling
This week's collection is the exquisite watercolours of George Wilson, which I happened upon at Duff House. As always, the photography does the artworks no favours, but I hope that you will gain a little appreciation for the skill and stunning beauty this humble man brought to the world. The first photo gives you the basics about the artist, then there is a good blurb attached to each picture, plus an interesting piece about the conservation and preservation of such art. Enjoy!

ReplyDeletethe TREE is my favorite, the first one and the last one with the stream, is a close tie and I would hang either or both on my walls if I could. trees are my thing and the details on these are amazing, they look like a photo.. wow

ReplyDeleteAccomplished, but a tad gloomy, I found. Perhaps seeing the actual painting would temper my reaction. Art conservation is one profession unlikely to be displaced at AI.

ReplyDeleteThose are all such beautiful paintings! That sure was a lot of work to restore them, but well worth it.
