Menonday Art Vibe; Festive Fling

This week's collection is the exquisite watercolours of George Wilson, which I happened upon at Duff House. As always, the photography does the artworks no favours, but I hope that you will gain a little appreciation for the skill and stunning beauty this humble man brought to the world. The first photo gives you the basics about the artist, then there is a good blurb attached to each picture, plus an interesting piece about the conservation and preservation of such art. Enjoy!

  1. Very eloquent landscapes, detailed though a bit forlorn.

  2. The genre of work that influenced my grandfather, born 1886.
Painting what was there as they saw it...even a dead deer

  5. Accomplished, but a tad gloomy, I found. Perhaps seeing the actual painting would temper my reaction. Art conservation is one profession unlikely to be displaced at AI.

  10. Those are all such beautiful paintings! That sure was a lot of work to restore them, but well worth it.
