Menozplorer - after lunch...

When we had been searching for food, we had to cross from the waterfront to the main road via a very attractive precinct.  The children's pool was full of fountainous decorations...

...then there were grown-up versions; very elegant.

After lunch we sauntered over to Memorial Park once more - every town in OZ has a returned services memorial - then down to Pelican Promenade.  This is a council-built and sanctioned area of the waterfront where, for the pas 20 years, wild pelicans have been assembling to receive a free feed of fish.

Also gathering was the large crowd of pelican lovers and the merely curious.

The pelicans flew in from all directions, including over our heads...anything for fish!

They lined up perfectly, synchronised their pouches and waited amazingly patiently as "Phil" took out the fish and threw it in different directions.  As far as possible the sharing was equal - but it was also every bird for itself.

Then, when all was finished, the audience was asked to clap their hands and the pelicans took this signal to depart...

Beautiful birds, elegant as swans in their own way.  We thoroughly enjoyed this amazing display... then we sauntered off round to the lake side of the bridge...

  1. I believe you are exploring OZ well for us. The pelican show is wonderful. What big birds. How well trained their audience, by the way.
