What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menofilcher...just one more!

Thought you may like to see how it is done in the country of origin...

You'll note the nipping at the cow's ankles. It is this very bred-in feature which gives these dogs their 'heeler' name; and which makes them not so suitable as purely pet animals.  Like Border Collies and other working dogs, a good one is an absolute delight. The less good can be a fright!

  1. THAT is a super video... Loved it. Folks in this neck of the woods don't use cattle dogs much any longer... they tend to use 4-Wheelers...
THAT is a REAL SHAME. There is NOTHING more valuable than a good cattle dog.

  3. Yes, as we learn in the first few chapters of Far from the Madding Crowd.
Working dogs working is a beautiful sight.
We took wool to a mill for carding once that was on a family farm. One of the dogs literally herded us from place to place as we wandered about, waiting.
