WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoxplorer; there's museums and there's displays...

Picking up from the visit to Aberdeen, begun last Wednesday...

When I asked to go into the little museum in Ballater, the young lady advised me that there was a mere 10 minutes left before closing. I still decided to spend my two quid and have a look.

Glad I did.  The limited time proved not to be a problem as, (unlike the Dunoon 'expedition'), this setup was well proportioned, easily absorbed and little more than the platform and waiting room to look round.

This carriage was interesting and the why of that is to be found in the framed document in the foot well...

Then the waxworks; one felt almost bound to curtsey!!!

The Royal Carriage... sumptuous...

Of course with such travel, luggage must follow... quite what the cat had to do with things I am uncertain, though if there had been time to read all the plackets that may have been discovered.

Anyway, there was sufficient in that 10 minutes to feel I had obtained my ticket's worth and the shop was not too tacky either; some small purchases were made after all.

As we exited, though, a true gale was blowing and it was quite the effort to get back against it to the car!

We drove back to Aberdeen via the North side of the River Dee.  A different sort of feel on that drive and every bit as beautiful in the late afternoon sunshine.  Bertie certainly loves to watch it passing...

In the evening Gail and I got to talking a bit more about the SHIPPING SITE... not obsessive or anything. We did get a tad distracted though. It's not too many other women friends with whom one can share such an interest!  Talk did return to Bertie in due course. Especially on Sunday morning, when 'aunty' had to prepare herself for leaving and heading down to Edinburgh.

It was a genuine joy and privilege to have been able to meet some blogpals and find there is a bond or two. Departure came all too quickly and before I knew it Aberdeen was behind me.  Fond memories formed.

Tomorrow, you'll see a bit more from Aberdeen, but more general.

  2. We should petition the new Scotrail franchise holder to design some new rolling stock based on that Royal Carriage, and say goodbye to sardine tins!
    Cheers, Gail.

  3. Having caught the train to work most of my life I would have loved to use that carriage, but life is not like that.

  6. I remember meeting up with a blogpal a few months ago. It was such great fun and we had a lot in common I felt. ;)

I guess the cat felt it was being outdone by all those dogs! And I totally agree. Now, where was this exactly? Since I need to find things to visit next year when I will be on a week-long holiday with parentals and sister!
