WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menosukhi Movie Monday

For last month's FFHT here, there was the shortest of short tales about a cat who may, or may not, have been nibbling it's owners (or the neighbours') bedding plants. There was a comment which referenced Ferdinand - a bull after this Taurean's heart. Needless to say, a search was made. A search which 'blossomed', it might be said. &*>

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, bless....

Now, on another matter. When Bertie shared with us that picture of a puplet on an aeroplane, it totally rocked my wings. I had never thought of the possibility! Again, some researches, this time about airlines and cabin travelling for poochies. In the process a most delightful blog was discovered.

It is just jam-pack-full of useful info, other links, as well as articles with experiences of the blog owner and few guest posts.... but look at that screen-shot again - whaddya see?!!  Yuppers - a whole page on TAKING YOUR PET ON A PLANE... (yes that was a direct link just given). It has to be said that the proviso on the subtitle there is 'for those who want to travel with their small dog', but I am sure there will be tips to be picked up whatever size your poochie is!

I was excited and I don't even have a dog (at the moment)!

In the interests of equality, a similar search was done for the feline fraternity. Needless to say that was not as fruitful. However, this was a good read.

  1. Great info on pets traveling! We see posts often about folks needing information about pets on a plane. We are so far behind we haven't read the FFHT's yet!

  2. Hello, I feel sorry for the bigger dogs that have to ride in cages underneath on the plane. The small dogs have a nicer plane. Fun post, enjoy your new week ahead!

  3. I once picked up a young friend headed from Los Angeles to upstate New York. I was on the way to Saratoga Springs for a weekend show and she timed her arrival in Cleveland (with her cat) for me to drop her in Syracuse and be on to Saratoga in good time. Except, a football game let out in LA and she missed the plane. Her mother frantically contacted me, and I waited the extra three hours. It made no difference to me; what I didn't get set up in Saratoga that night could wait until the next morning.
The poor cat, Oscar, was sedated in a soft carrier that Cara kept under the seat. The fellow was near comatose; having missed the first plane Cara put another sedative in Oscar, probably unnecessary. In my van she poured Oscar out of the carrier, and he lay like a rug across her lap for the better part of the end of the journey, another six hour drive. When he woke up, well past Buffalo, he merely turned and went back to sleep.

  6. That's great info. You can check your airport's website prior to travel to see if they have a "pet relief" area that's INSIDE the secure area which comes in handy. Otherwise, plane enough time between connections to go outside and go back through the line again.

Just a note as someone that flew 20 some years professionally. I personally would never send a pet as cargo, even if the cargo bay is climate controlled. It's positively terrifying for them.

Indeed... I could never consign a pet to 'cargo' of any sort; as 'evil' as 'camp' may be, it would surely be the far better option; then again, for as long as I had the J's (17 years), I travelled nowhere... one of the key reasons am staying pet-free currently... Yxx

pee ess - love the new piccie with Barkley stealing the no dogs sign!!!

  10. no chance for me to travel in the cabin... but maybe when I buy 4 10 kg-tickets of canadian airline? We had a real guy once named Ferdinand (inspired by the movie), he first was called Hanibal(l) but my grampy said it didn't fit after he turned into a bullock... I needed years to find out what he meant that time :o)

  11. When I moved to Norway, I couldn't take my cats with me, because the airline didn't accept them during the winter, because it got too cold in the hold. Next time I move anywhere, I will drive and take the monsters with me!!!

Yes indeed.... Cats certainly curtail travel plans on the whole... dogs are somewhat more portable - but generally speaking, if got pets, have car!!! Yxx

  12. Just catching up here. That blog is a great find.
But Bertie still thinks it's unfair he's considered too big, even for a Jumbo Jet…
    Cheers! Gail
