A double-bill to start the year... First, farewell to one and welcome to another...

For those paying attention last week, it will not have escaped notice that I have reconnected with my interest and love of ballet. In trawling their tubular channel, I was delighted to discover that they provide active support to dance as therapy for people with Parkinson's Disease (and also for Multiple Sclerosis and Dementia). I start the year off, then, with the film clip showing how this affects the participants - and of course, it warms my heart, given that PD was what kept father trapped. (it is possible you will have to click the link through to YT if it gives you that...)

  3. That is a commendable initiative. Fine arts are useful therapies. Music for mental peace, painting for Alzheimer's and so on.

  9. We enjoyed both videos. It would be nice if all fireworks displays could be changed over to drone ones. We bet the animals would appreciate not having all those loud booms! Happy New Year!

  10. loving the light show and listening to the voices with such a lovely accent to my ears.. and the violin in the background is beautiful. we should all make We Are One our mantra for this new year. the dance is amazing. when i volunteered at a nursing home, we found that music and dance made their day. i wondered how PD could do ballet. now i know.

  13. How beautiful that something as simple and enjoyable and non-clinical as dance can have this kind of affect on those with Parkinson's. Jeff and I are ballroom dancers and also teach - although, sadly, not since March. According to some sources, ballroom dance is the #1 deterrent to Alzheimer's disease.

  14. I didn't know you had a love of ballet until recently. I am starting to really enjoy it. My interest was sparked by a performance of Dracula. It was amazing, as is this program.
