Menoizikkuls; Midweek Musicalisms

Last of the wedding hops. Each of the dances presented thus far has shown the men grouping together for celebration - but at each of those, the women would certainly have had their turn, then there would be happy mingling. Today's wedding dance is quite different. In the Hasidic tradition, the women and the men congregate in separate rooms for just about all but the actual joining ceremony. The women have their own dances - but this one of the men is entertaining for its slow start... then things rev up and the dabke dancers of last week may have rivals. Maybe...

  2. The young man, who I'm guessing is the groom, has the air of a reluctant and nervous participant.
    And to nearly all went badly wrong at around 3:12!

  3. Years ago I went to a Greek wedding in Melbourne that had dancing a bit like the zig-zag chain dancing of this one. xxx F

  4. this made me think of our Native American Dancers and that made me think that every region and country in the world has similars dances... i saw a few steps to add to my dance excerises, the one when they were in a straight line

  9. It is interesting to see how all the different cultures celebrate at a wedding. And everyone seems to be having a lot of fun, from the very young to the very old:)
