What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.
On my first visit to Australia when I spent most of my time in and around the ACT I saw Sacred Kingfisher quite frequently but on my last trip five years ago I saw it but once, at Callala Bay, NSW. It is a spectacular bird.
agree with Tiggers Mum, every day beautiful to see, which i have never done except in photos . I think the sound might get on my nerves if it lasted very long, even our cardinals do that at times
Hello, Kingfishers are a favorite of mine, They are cool birds. This Kingfisher sounds a lot different than the kingfisher I see and hear here. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Though this splendid bird is new to me, belted kingfishers are one of my favorite birds. About 10 summers ago we had a pair fly back/forth from a pond to their nest with our home in the middle. So delightful but it has never been repeated.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that call sounds particularly 'sacred'. Insistent, for sure!
ReplyDeleteAren't they among the most beautiful of birds? Everyday beautiful, not fantastical or exotic.
ReplyDeleteDuring my visit to Oz, I didn't spot as many kingfishers I thought I would.
