First Friday Filmclub - A Menoturals Post

In the introduction post last month, I teased you about there being an offering from the Great Down Under Parts... here it is! This post is also being shared with the LLB gang for Nature Friday - see the badge on the sidebar!

I've been to Brewarrina.

Struth, mate, that's a drive and then some.

I was with Dad on one of his electrification tendering missions. We left from Mudgee, an hour south east of Dubbo, headed up via Gilgandra, Coonamble and Walgett, then back round by Narrabri. There were a couple unmemorable motel stays... but I did find a couple of small bits of meteorite to add to my minerals collection! Anyway, to the video. There's an origin myth about the fish traps in the Barwon River. Legend says the complex arrangement of stones—considered one of Australia's oldest Aboriginal heritage sites—was formed when the ancestral creator god Baiami threw a fishing net across the river. His two sons then built the stone wall traps according to the shape of the rope on the water.

And just for a bit of AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW to brighten FFF/NF, here's a baby Euro being cared for at the Roo Sanctuary. Euros are a member of the Wallaroo family and are found only in West Australia. (Wallaroos are a medium-sized macropod, not as small as Wallabies, but not as large as Kangaroos - and the name is not a concatenation of those two, but a Garagul name for critter...)
