WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menosuki Moments

Well, till now the sentimental and down-deeper sharings have been pretty much all about The J's or family and other close ones.  Today though, I would like to share a different kind of awwwwwww-some.

I follow quite a number of blogs... rather more than I can properly do justice to in terms of attention, if truth be told.  It will not have escaped attention that one of my passions in life is nature and the creatures who share it with we humans.  One of the places I like to keep tabs on is an island not much more than a cloud-burst's distance from here, through its Islay Natural History Trust blog. Last week they in turn offered a link to the video I am now putting in below, which was on the main blog site of the island. I think you will agree, this is some mighty fine footage!!!

Footnote; I had said I would report back on the booklet of Lt Jones, late of this parish and WW1 veteran.  It is read and as had been said in the introductory remarks (which were shared here) it was not a work of art.  It did, however, convey a sense of 'keeping it together'.  Almost certainly the collation of facts and noting of even the most inane events is what helped such men deal with the world as it was in those years.  What was interesting was the almost perfunctory manner in which the events that resulted in Lt Jones being mentioned in dispatches and awarded medals were written up.  He wrote them as they happened and almost in the minute; not knowing the plaudits that would come his way.  He conveyed no sense of heroism.  There was work to be done and he did what could with it.

In some ways this brief booklet honours his memory very truly... it was a job pending.  It was completed.

  2. I love the video. I have been fortunate enough to see dolphins in the wild once and it was a sight I will never forget.

We went whale watching with my brother off Vancouver Isl., there was a pod of 7 all in a row, sleep swimming. Way cool. Thanks for reminding me of it!
