Me-Now-Views; Less Speak More Peek

Images from the Edinburgh garden this week...

An alum head, dried on stalk.

...no, that is not true colour. I got creative...

Yes, this one's a poppy.

This dunnock has some kind of disease, we have decided, as it has 'warts' on its feet and legs and, well,
you can see the state of the feathers! It is surviving though and has been named... "Scruff".

This female bullfinch was gorging on the sunflower kernels... shot through double-glazing and shrub in foreground
hence the lack of clarity

...say what??!!!...

  4. I’m wishing the best of luck to little Scruff. Darling birds.
I love the autumn seed pods that you picture and those I see outside now.
Could the flower pictured next to the hydrangea be a Japanese anemone?
I had a very pretty pink one in my backyard in San Francisco.
We’ve just ordered two long-desired white Japanese anemones, yet to arrive.

They are indeed Stephanie! I adore them but have no garden of my own now, just have to enjoy the father's. They are inclined to self propogate themselves very readily...jus' sayin' :-) Yxx

  11. Had to look up dunnock! Found it was a (Dutch name) hedge sparrow! Which made sense, since it looked very much sparrowy! Which is not a word, but for this it works. Or not of course. Depending. I will stop now.

    PS: love the photos

  12. I feel so sad seeing little birdies with issues.
I had a bald red wing blackbird one year. Sigh.
I made sure I really cleaned the feeders, just in case it spread a disease. sigh. again. cheerio from away!

  13. YAM, these are beautiful photos. During the storms associated with hurricane Harvey, a bird was on our pation trying to get out of the torrential rains and wind. As I was cleaning up the patio, I found its body. Sad. Namaste, Janice xx
