What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menorflexion; Alpha-Betting Resilience

Yesterday saw the letter "J" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

You will not be surprised to learn that for the letter "K", Martha has chosen the word 'kindness'... it has been pointed out to me several times this year that I am not being very kind to me. Indeed, have been very hard. I have high expectations of behaviour and actions and when I fall short of my own measure, the disappointment in myself is writ large. Sadly, I feel I have fallen short many times. I need to allow for circumstances and other influences over which I have no control and use another "A" word - acceptance - so that I can indeed be kinder to myself...

  3. While working so hard to care for another in need, it is easy to forget to take care of oneself, OR just not have the time. But it is so important to do. And taking care of oneself also includes finding that little way to exert self-kindness.

  4. I think you are right, Yam. Take it easy. This is short term stuff to get through. You will make it. xx

  5. Random acts of kindness are often easier to extend than kindness to ourselves and those close to us. Sandra's comment really made me think hard about being kind to Mr B when he returns next month. It is tempting to think that others have had it easier and dump all the stuff I've been hanging on to while he has been away. Tigger will express 'kindness' by spending all day sitting on him! Thank you for K. F&P. F&T.

...and it is also true that where we express our frustrations with life is with those to whom we are closest - assumptions made of understanding, which is a bit unkind! The devotion of pets is a furbulush salve... Yxx

  7. It can be easier to be kind to others. Be kind has become my mantra this year. We need more kindness.
