Yesterday saw the letter "Y" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

Full circle, we come to the letter "Z"... how can we utilise this letter? Let Martha explain... Tomorrow here at Wild YAM, we return to regular service!

Yesterday saw the letter "X" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

"Y"ou have been the focus of this month's posts! It can sometimes feel a little bit selfish, if you have not been brought up to think about yourself this much. However, the modern world demands that we all understand that unless we look after ourselves first, how can we properly look after others?

Yesterday saw the letter "W" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

"X"-ray... yes, another moment of reflection. Take an overview of what has been read this month and how - if at all - it has affected you. Have any of these daily musings been something that you could take hold of and use to improve life a little bit for yourself?

Yesterday saw the letter "V" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

With "W" we are again pointed to the necessity of exercise and movement! I am one who is challenged in the best of times, due to arthritis, but I do love to have a bop to Bhangra and I do have my exercise pedals... and I do actually love a walk, even if I can't go very far these days!

On Thursday we saw the letter "U" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

"V" is a word which ties in with the o for open... allowing ourselves to be 'vulnerable'. Even in a closed, counselling situation, I know that this can be a real hurdle for many folk. Yet, I have also seen (and felt) the results that such openness brings into life when we permit our vulnerability to show through. It is amazing how there will always be someone around to hold us, in actuality or in simple emotional and sometimes practical support. Several of us have found this through our blogging network - that admitting our need for support brings forth such a level of Love (with the capital 'ell'), even at a great distance, in which we can find deep "V"alue...

Yesterday saw the letter "T" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

For "U", we are asked to look into our uncertainty, then challenge it with that about which we are certain.

Yesterday saw the letter "S" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

"T" = talk. Something most of us like to do on occasion. This isn't about the talking in the 'open' sense we saw earlier. This is the talk in the sense of social chatter, having a good old yarn, telling each other our stories of things seen and done and explored. The getting-to-know-you stuff so essential to building community and connection...

Yesterday saw the letter "R" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

With the letter "S" we are asked to put ourselves into nature and look for something to provide us with a sense of awe. I often do see the sunrise and always, the sunset. Several nights recently I have observed the other planets in our solar system. But I get the same sense of wonder watching the bees gathering pollen, watching blossoms scatter in the breeze... watching the rain address the earth...

Yesterday saw the letter "Q" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

"R" is for 'remember'... and if you've been around here long enough, you'll know the challenge contained in this one for the YAMster! No, but really, this is quite a good one for stress management and I had actually done a bit of this with father recently anyway.

Yesterday saw the letter "P" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

One might wonder what could be used for reflection with the letter "Q"... and that question itself is the answer!

On Thursday we saw the letter "O" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

Now we come the letter "P" and the word chosen is 'pause'. At first glance this might seem to be the same as f for fun... but no. This is more reflective, introspective. To pause as suggested here will allow room for things like intent and balance to flourish.

Yesterday saw the letter "N" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

I love that Martha has chosen "O"pen for today's word. It is something I have long advocated in both personal and professional situations - but an amazing number of folk are reserved, positively shy... or downright secretive! It is not only important for one's personal well-being to talk out stuff but, I strongly believe, it would be a better world if we dropped all the shenanigans of lies, damn lies and conspiracy theories... (I know, that's "o"ptimistic beyond reason!!!)

Yesterday saw the letter "M" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

Saying "N"o can be a challenge - particularly for women. Many of us, for various reasons, will keep saying yes to stuff... and then wonder how we got in this mess! This is something that I actually learned quite early in life and managed to use without causing offence or rocking boats. But it does take practice and if it is new to you, it will certainly create a wave or two among those invested in your compliance!

Yesterday saw the letter "L" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

"M" and yet again we are reminded that in this time in which we have all, in a way, been required to be static, movement is of prime importance.

Yesterday saw the letter "K" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

For the letter "L", we are advised to 'let it go'... and I am immediately reminded of a wonderful ditty by Michael Leunig, which deserves another airing here, too...

Yesterday saw the letter "J" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

You will not be surprised to learn that for the letter "K", Martha has chosen the word 'kindness'... it has been pointed out to me several times this year that I am not being very kind to me. Indeed, have been very hard. I have high expectations of behaviour and actions and when I fall short of my own measure, the disappointment in myself is writ large. Sadly, I feel I have fallen short many times. I need to allow for circumstances and other influences over which I have no control and use another "A" word - acceptance - so that I can indeed be kinder to myself...

On Thursday we saw the letter "I" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

"J"ournalling is something I have done for a long time - originally in actual books with actual pens and pencils. Latterly, though, blogging here has been my 'journal'. I have spoken in a post recently about how important this is to help balance my days. It has to be admitted that to manage my time this year, in particular, it has been necessary to load up a number of posts at one go, so there is not quite the daily discipline that originally existed. However, equally important, is the reading of all your blogs. Do any of you journal any other way? Do you think of blogging as journalling?

Menorflexion; Alpha-Betting Resilience

Yesterday saw the letter "H" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

What about the "I"? Well, in one context you would now be directed over to my teaching blog and the deep philosophy of Beingness which is called Advaita Vedanta... however, in the context of resilience, according to our guide here, the word for today is 'intention', and definitely worth considering.

Menorflexion; Alpha-Betting Resilience

Yesterday saw the letter "G" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

"H"opefulness is something we are all rather in need of now. It has been quite the year at all levels of existence, as I have noted before. Where are you all in the hope scale?

Menorflexion; Alpha-Betting Resilience

Yesterday saw the letter "F" in the Martha Simpson affirmation alphabet. (Please note that this series has been given its own label here, of 'ABReflctions'.)

"G" is something that has grown a lot as a meme in social media. At times I feel the word and meaning are little disempowered by such use and the giving of 'lip-service' to it. To genuinely feel gratitude can actually take some effort. I really like Martha's advice here...
